Plenary Conversation 2023:Oregon COVID-19 Farmworker Study: Centering Farmworkers Knowledge in Community-Engaged Research
This panel will convene farmworkers, promotoras, farmworker-serving organizations, and researchers who launched the Oregon COVID-19 Farmworker Study (OR COFS). This community-engaged research led to the first comprehensive grasp of the diversity of Oregon’s farmworkers, including increasing numbers of Campesinas, ethnic, and linguistic diversity that subvert a monolithic frame of labor, Latinidad, and Indigeneity. The provocative discussion will be arranged around how this transformative methodology inspired by rural and Indigenous campesinx/o knowledge systems based on trust and reciprocity can improve direct service and policy change efforts.
